Actor Abe Vigoda Dies At 94

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – The three-time Emmy nominee film and television star Abe Vigoda has died. He was 94.

The actor's daughter, Carol Vigoda Fuchs, confirmed Vigoda's death to the Associated Press, saying that he had died on Tuesday morning at his home in New Jersey.

Vigoda earned his three Emmy nods for his potrayal of Detective Phil Fish on the long-running 1970s ABC sitcom "Barney Miller." He also had a stand-out roll as the mob captain Salvatore Tessio in Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 mafia epic "The Godfather."

In 1982, Vigoda did not attend the Barney Miller wrap party, and soon became the subject of rumors that he had passed, which continued to circulate for years afterwards.

In later years, Vigoda was also a frequent guest on Conan O’Brien, and other media appearances, including a commercial with Betty White and appearing onstage in a furry costume at a Phish concert in 2013. – Staff Writers
